Maisa Halabi Alshiech is the founder and director of the Lotus Initiative, an enterprise that trains traditional religious Druze women for work in software development and places in them leading high-tech companies. A graduate of Cohort 2 of the Mandel Program for Social Leadership in the North, Maisa has worked as an educator, home-room teacher, entrepreneur, technology coordinator, and mentor for the Haifa district of Israel’s Ministry of Education. She also founded an initiative called “Youth Show the Way,” which raises awareness and promotes acceptance of people with disabilities in Druze society, and a Facebook page called the “Teachers Dream,” which promotes creativity and innovation in education. Maisa works to promote higher education and make it more accessible for women in Druze society. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in special education from Gordon College of Education and the University of Haifa, respectively, and is a graduate of the Avney Rosha Institute for School Leadership. Maisa is married and a mother of three, and lives in Isfiya.
Judge Doron Porat is a judge in the Magistrate's Courts in the Northern District, where he previously served as president. He has been a trailblazer in the proactive approach to managing the judicial process, a paradigmatic change that has led to a dramatic reduction in the length of time required to complete legal proceedings. This innovative approach has gained recognition and won awards and is being implemented in the court system in Israel. Judge Porat actively promotes efficiency and professionalism within the legal system, as well as the enhancement of social engagement in the community. He holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Tel Aviv University and a master’s degree in law from the University of Haifa. Married and a father of two, Judge Porat lives in the Jezreel Valley. He is a graduate of Cohort 2 of the Mandel Program for Leadership for Public Service in the North.
Judge Dunya Nassar is a judge in the Kiryat Shmona Magistrate's Court, where she mostly hears criminal cases. Her vision is to improve the criminal punishment system so that it includes components that will help offenders to be rehabilitated and return to society as better citizens. Judge Nassar holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Netanya Academic College, and a master’s degree in adjudication and criminal procedure from the University of Haifa. A graduate of Cohort 3 of the Mandel Program for Leadership for Public Service in the North, she is a mother of three, and lives in Tur’an.
Judge Mishory Lev Tov is the newly appointed president of the Magistrate’s Courts in the Northern District. Previously, he served as vice president of the courts and was responsible for the courts in Tiberias and Beit She’an where he primarily heard criminal cases. Judge Mishory Lev Tov also initiated and ran charitable projects for needy populations. Previously, he held a series of command and management positions in the IDF and the Israel Police and founded and led a social initiative to help Holocaust survivors. Judge Mishory Lev Tov has published a book of poetry and prose. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in law (cum laude) from Bar-Ilan University and the University of Haifa, respectively. A graduate of Cohort 3 of the Mandel Program for Leadership for Public Service in the North, he is married and a father of four and lives in Shimshit.
Brigadier General Ofir Livius is the head of the Israeli Defense Force’s Education and Youth Corps. Previously, he was the head of the planning department of the IDF planning directorate, the commanding officer of the 417th Jordan Valley Brigade, the head of the planning branch of the operational directorate, and a team commander of the IDF Tactical Command College. Earlier in his IDF career, Brigadier General Livius was the commanding officer of the elite Meitar Unit of the artillery corps, and prior to that, he filled several positions in the Golani Brigade: course commander of the infantry training base, deputy commanding officer of the 13th Gideon Battalion, and the commanding officer of the EOF and engineering company. Ofir Livius holds a bachelor’s degree in land of Israel studies and archaeology from Bar-Ilan University, a master’s degree in the humanities from the Open University of Israel, and a master’s degree in political science from the Israel National Security College, and is a graduate of the IDF Command and Staff College. He was born and raised in Rishon Lezion and now lives with his family in Kibbutz Beit Rimon in the north of Israel.
